Advent Ingathering
November 27, 2016 - December 18, 2016
During the Season of Advent, as we prepare for the coming of the Christ child, we have the privilege of bringing gifts each Sunday to be blessed and shared with those who are in need. This Advent, we invite you to bring the following gifts for the organizations listed below:
November 27 – Nueva Esperanza / New Hope, led by Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, supports the transition needs of newly arrived migrant youth and families
- books in English and/or Spanish for pre-school aged children
- coloring books in English and/or Spanish for pre-school aged children
- crayons
- toys (of modest size due to space-constraints) for pre-school aged children
- black beans, rice, oil
December 4 – First Place for Youth, provides current and former foster youth with access to housing, education and employment support
- Gift cards for household items and necessities (Target, grocery stores, Walgreens)
- New, unused household items: pots, pans, bake ware dishes, cups, utensils, etc.
December 11 – YEAH! (Youth Engagement, Advocacy and Housing), supports young adults who are homeless in Berkeley
- new socks
- new men’s boxers and boxer briefs
- new women’s underwear
- sanitary napkins and tampons
December 18 – Berkeley Food Pantry, provides healthy food to those in need in Berkeley and Albany
- peanut butter
- canned soups
- canned beans
- gluten-free grains and pasta
- low-sugar breakfast cereal
