SUMMARY:Acolyte and Sound Board Training and Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Acolyte Training and Lunch\, Sunday\, May 22nd\, following the 11:15 service. \nYou may have noticed that as we have returned to in-person worship over the last year or so (in all its iterations\,) there have been some roles that have been missing from worship. One of those has been acolytes! Typically\, acolytes are young people in grades 5 and up who want to participate in worship by carrying torches (candles)\, incense\, or crosses in the procession\, and helping out at special services like the ones during Holy Week and Christmas. \nWell\, the time has come to get acolytes back in worship! We’d like to start having acolytes (at the 11:15am service only for now) on Pentecost\, which is June 5th! To achieve that goal\, we need to train some new acolytes! That’s where you all come in! \nIf you’re interested in finding out more about being an acolyte and being trained to participate in worship in this way\, please come to our Acolyte Lunch and training after the 11:15 service on Sunday\, May 22nd. We’ll have a quick lunch together and then go over some of the acolyting basics. All youth currently in grades 4-11 are invited to this training in anticipation of being in grades 5-12 in the fall. \nIf being an acolyte doesn’t sound like your thing\, but you’d still like to volunteer at church\, maybe you’d like to try running the sound board that controls the microphones during worship.  If you’re in grades 9-12 and you’re interested in learning how to control the sound board during the 11:15am worship services\, a role that has become exponentially more important since we began live-streaming all of our worship services\, Emily will offer a training for all those who are interested on the same day\, May 22nd after the 11:15 service. \nSo\, why acolyte or run the sound board? It’s a way of giving back to your church community\, and one for which you can earn service hours for school or any other organization for which you might need them. It’s a way to be more engaged in what’s going on at church and in worship. You’ll get a behind the scenes look at all the weird stuff that happens at church on Sundays! \nHope to see you on the 22nd for a lunch and training! if you’ve already been trained as an acolyte\, we’d love for you to come back and freshen up your skills and help the new acolytes\, or be trained on the sound board if you’re interested in that as well! Same thing applies if you’ve already been trained on the sound board\, please come and get a reminder training! \nRSVP here so we know how much food to get!
